AU – RRT’s Ron Arkcoll with Sky News – November 19

The Rapid Relief Team’s (RRT) Chairman, Ron Arkcoll, recently spoke with Sky News to discuss the devastating effects of drought and fire across NSW and the efforts of RRT volunteers who lend a helping hand.

RRT rolled out Operation Drought Relief (ODR) to help farmers affected by the drought in 2018, raising more than $3 million to support 1,100 Aussie farming families.

The ODR campaign is continuing with the launch of a new initiative, Farmers Community Connect (FCC), which was developed after RRT identified the need for social well-being support for farmers, in addition to gifting livestock pellets.

Ron says that for RRT it is not about fixing the drought, but more about bringing some hope and encouragement to the farmers to help boost morale in this overwhelming and desperate time.

Ron discusses RRT’s upcoming event in Narrabri, NSW, which will see 400 tons of livestock pellets donated to farmers in the area, and surrounding regions, and offers a well-deserved day out for farmers to enjoy. He says farmers can also have free access to local support groups such as mental health services, rural financial counselling and veterinary services.
