On 28th September 2019 The Rapid Relief Team AU of Young were eager to take up the opportunity and serve a ‘magnificent’ breakfast of bacon and egg rolls, banana bread and yogurt to the team of inspired individuals participating in P2P at their stop in Boorowa before they completed the final leg of their outstanding ride!
A few of these amazing riders had ridden from Perth and were on their last 400 km of the full 5,000 kilometers to Sydney. They were joined by several riders from Young, NSW on this leg.
In 1979 Kevin and Max Goodman experienced an adventure of a lifetime – cycling across Australia in just over two weeks. Earlier this year they revealed their plans to repeat the challenge and their unconventional training regime.
Back in 1979, with no professional or expert training of any kind, they rode from Perth to Sydney via Melbourne on heavy steel frame bicycles they’d bought just 12 months before and with only their dad in the small family caravan as support crew, they accomplished the gruelling 4153km ride in an astonishing 16 days.
The brothers have completed it all again in 2019 and this time they rode to raise money for 5 charities; Black Dog Institute, McGrath Foundation, Give me 5 for kids, Young Hospital and Young Crisis Accommodation Centre Inc. At this point of the ride, they had raised around $75,000 of their $100,000 target. We wish them well with achieving the full sum.
