With a crisp start to the day, the Bike 4 Burns riders eagerly assembled at the Southport Fire Station at 6am Friday 18th May 2018, ready to embark on the 750km, 7 day journey to raise much needed funds for the Children’s Hospital Foundation burns research and treatment.
During this adventure, RRT supported the riders with 4 meals along the grueling route commencing at Brisbane, stopping at Cooya, Ipswich and finishing back in Brisbane.
RRT Brisbane were on site to provide a hearty breakfast of bacon and egg rolls to fuel the riders, along with donating sunscreen packs and water to assist on the ride.
On Monday 20th May, Toowoomba RRT traveled to the peaceful country town of Cooya to have lunch ready in anticipation for the riders arrival.
RRT served 75 of their delicious signature beef burgers to the hungry riders and crew and everyone was glad to take a rest and have a seat with legs not wheels while filling the tank before tackling the Cooya ranges.
With the warm morning sun behind them, the Bike 4 Burns riders enthusiastically rolled into the Fernvale War Memorial Park on Wednesday, day 6 of their 750km journey. RRT Ipswich were on site to provide a wholesome lunch of chicken and bacon rolls topped with avocado pulp to refuel the riders and enjoyed by all!
With a mighty cheer from the expectant audience, the Bike 4 Burns riders arrived at the Lady Cilento Hospital in Brisbane. What an amazing accomplishment riding over 750kms in 7 days with in excess of 2000m elevation. The team was truly glad to reach the finish line and accomplish the task of raising much needed funds for burns victims and research.
RRT was privileged to be able to serve a final meal to all riders, support crew, families, QFES personnel and Children’s Hospital Foundation staff. Great effort team, see you all again soon!
